Ellis was drawn to a constraint: it had to work in a corridor. At 340 mm deep it does not block a doorway, and the shelf underneath is set high enough to take boots rather than only flat shoes. The seat is a single slab with a slight crown so it is comfortable to perch on while pulling laces tight.

Vacuum the upholstery on a low setting once a month and rotate the cushions to keep them even. Wipe the frame with a soft dry cloth and re-oil once a year. Keep out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.
10-year warranty on the solid wood frame and joinery, 2 years on upholstery, foam and webbing. Covers manufacturing defects under normal domestic use; wear from misuse or unauthorised repair is not covered.
